To answer the question from the comments on now they reach the laundry: they reach the line from the window, the lines are on a roller system. Each line is a double line, as they crank the mechanism, they can reach one piece closest to the window, take it on/off, and keep cranking to reach the next. I am guessing that two neighbors across from each other share the line, because the lines were positioned to be reached from windows on both sides.

Very nice reflection. We have also own copy cat Venice Canals near the beach in the west side. The laundry lines remind of Hong Kong.
someday I will get back to Italy.....I love how they would hang the laundry from windows in Florence---I want to go back and see Venice next time too
I love the reflection, and I think it's cool how they hang their laundry out between the buildings. They must have a set laundry day and take turns using the lines!
I have never quite understood while i love the look of drying laundry like i do. To me its honest and basic and no pretense.

I used to think that only in Malaysia and Singapore that people hang their laundry like this.

Excellent image. Ah yes, clotheslines in an era of automatic dryers. I remember all the clotheslines we had in our yard when I was a kid. Lots of work but the clothes always smelled so fresh and clean.
