Quiltworks Ebay Seller Tip #15 (Part 5)

I started selling my artwork on Ebay (under seller id Quiltworks) in 1999.  Through the years I always kept an eye out for alternative on-line auction sites, and I've compiled a list of over 100 sites.   I find a number of them a nice compliment to Ebay.  Over the next few posts  I will share my favorites alternate auction sites with the things I like and don't like about them.

Auction Site: ArtFire

  • Specialization: Art Fire  is a selling platform for artists, crafters, and those who sell art/craft supplies.

  • Listing fee: none (for Basic member), $12 a month for Pro membership.  Fees are going to 15.95/month on March 1, 2010.

  • Final fee: none, it is free to list

  • Special features: Basic membership allows to list unlimited number of listings (including images), but does not provide access to some premium.

  • Buyer Traffic:  I have not had much luck there so far.

  • What I like: Easy UI, listings are easy to create, listing do not expire, so if something does not sell it does not take up any time to keep the store going. Integrated with Google Analytics, shows last 50 referrals even without signing up with Google Analytics.

  • What I don't like:  Lack of buyer traffic

  •  Stay tuned for more alternative auction site reports.

This is a weekly feature called "Seller Tips". I have been selling my artwork on line since 1999. I have learned a lot about successful selling and like sharing my knowledge. I even won Ebay's Community Hall of Fame Award in 2004 for my efforts. I decided to bring that knowledge and experience to my blog.
