Boston Common - reflections

I love walking in Boston Garden. It is an oasis of flowers and green in the city.

Did you know that Boston Garden is the oldest public park in the history of the USA? Boston Common's history goes back as far as 1634, when the area was designated a common pasture. It was also used for military purposes and for public hangings. The gallows were removed in 1817 and in 1830 the grazing of cattle was forbidden. Since then the Boston Common served as a public park.

The photos in this post are reflections of trees and the foot bridge in the lagoon of the Boston Common and are my contribution to Weekend Reflections

I love the wavy reflection. I'm sure the place is really lovely now without the gallows and cattle :-)

Those trees look like a Monet. So sweetly serene, QW. The time for the pretty colors will be past us soon.

It always fun to see how things going from straight lines to this in a reflection! MB

Both of these are wonderful images. I too love the wavy and agree that the second reminds me of an impressionistic painting.

The pictures are great and 1634 is such a long time ago. I'm new to Pennsylvania and when I see signs that say this or that happened here in 1680 or 1710 etc it really amazes me. I hope to visit Boston someday too.

Lovely photo! With the rippled reflection, it looks like an abstract painting!

The relcting autumn was nice, but the first one with the "rippled" reflection was really great.

I loved the first photo with the ripples. Autumn is a great time of year to take photos.

The contrast in the two photos is striking, with the one so sharp it is almost blinding, and the other so soft and muted, it makes you sleepy.

These are beautiful. Love the first shot, it's so sharp. And the colors in the second are beautiful, very peaceful. Have never been to Boston, it looks like a beautiful place to visit. Kathy
