Sunday photos: Cape Cod and Old Sturbridge Village

Today I am participating in Shadow Shot Sunday (where people share photographic images that feature shadows)  and Watery Wednesday (which feature water) .

I am lucky enough to live a very beautiful New England. 100 miles in each direction one can find a large variety of points of interest: an ocean to the east, mountains to west and north, lakes all around... Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Vermont are all within a 100 mile ride.

This week's contribution is a view of the marsh and the lighthouse in Province town, Cape Cod.

The second photo is contribution to Mellow Yellow Monday which celebrates golden color as the world is always better with a splash of yellow.  My photo is golden folliage taken last fall in Old Sturbridge Village, where visitors can experience life in the 1830s.

The third photo is  for camera critters and features kitty cat Hedy, when she was a kitten.

Now that's a lovely photo!

In answer to your question about how I select the photos for the collages: I simply try to rotate and use different participants from week to week so all players are included. I don't pick faves or themes or anything like that, but attempt to mix it up as best I can. I only create 3 collages (using 9 pics in each) each week, and with a total of 27 photos I can't include everyone every week. They are a bit time consuming to create (especially the links!) so I limit it to only three. When I first started this meme I would collage every shadow shot every week but as more people joined in I had to cut back because I couldn't keep up. So with the numbers currently participating, it may average out that you'll have your photo included in a collage every 3 or 4 weeks. If that makes sense? I don't know whether you read the last paragraph on my SSS post explaining that this may not always happen. I do stuff things up from time to time... ;) Anyway, hope this long-winded comment helped you understand how it all works. And thanks again for joining in SSS! It's very much appreciated!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
I had a nagging feeling I was forgetting something! I love Maine! One of the next SSS will be Maine's Pemiquid lighthouse :-) I go there several times a year just to shoot pictures of it, it always looks different ;-)

What a lovely trio of photos. I am hoping we will get some fall colors down south soon.

Love all your photos this week and admire you multi-tasking. I try to do that myself whenever possible, but this week my Camera Critters is linked with Pet Pride ... Mellow Yellow with Today's Flowers and Mosaic Monday. Both are at Small Reflections. My Shadow Shot Sunday is at Sacred Ruminations , paired with Scenic Sunday and BYBS. Methinks your second photo with the lovely Fall colors might be my favorite (since I don't see such things here at the beach in Southern California), but the kitty is pretty cute and the monochrome marsh with the lighthouse is a wonderful study in light and dark ... so I guess I like them all for different reasons ;--)
Hugs and blessings,

These are very nice! The kitty is just precious. I want to pick her up and cuddle! The fall colors are something special, as, we don't get nearly the show here in southern California. And, the lighthouse! Wow! I want to take a trip to the east coast and see them myself...we have a few nice ones out here but, not like along the Atlantic. Very nice trio!

Beautiful pictures all! We hardly have a fall here... we go from hot and dry to cooler and wet, but that's about it. Very few deciduous trees.

These are all great photos and the second reminds me of our last visit to New England when we visited Old Sturbridge Village.
As for the sky in my Olmsted Point photo, I cheat, I use a polarizing filter and finds it helps if the sun is at the right angle.

Hey, this is like three visits in one. I love the top in B&W, and I love your fall foliage shot. And anyone that knows me at all, knows I love cats.

Beautiful photos - love the fall colors. We have nice colors in the Pacific NW in fall, but not quite the drama of New England! Thanks for visiting my photo blog and leaving such nice comments. Now I'm off to look at your quilts!

I love all three of these. The shadows along the bank are wonderful, the processing of your yellow shot I really like, and kitty is a charmer!
Thanks for your visit as it brought me here - a lovely blog!!!
