I love using bamboo fiber in my textiles. Not only it is a "green" fiber (it is a natural fiber made out of crop that grows quickly) but it feels great to touch! It feels similar to silk but is a lot cheaper! Bamboo fibers are extracted through a steam explosion process where bamboo is injected with steam and placed under pressure and then small explosions within the bamboo due to steam release allows for the collection of bamboo fiber.
The photo is this post show a scarve I just completed, which is made out of Bambool. Bambool fiber is a combination of bamboo fibers (80%) and merino wool (20%). It soft and warm. The texture of the scarf is fairly tight for a hand loomed scarf, but not as tight as you would get on a machine made scarf. Because of this soft texture it drapes beautifully.
This scarf is available for sale in artwork gallery.
Meet my model "Hedy"! I picked her up in a fiber store close-out sale. I named her Hedy because I am making my textiles on a rigid heddle loom.

Blue with teal and pink accents hand-made Scarf
Here is another sample from my new fiber hobby - hand loom weaving. I purchased a loom and began creating my own textiles. I love it!
My current interest is creating skinny art scarves, which I noticed in some fashion shows. They can be worn almost like jewelry necklesses, and definitely can dress up any outfit. Here is one of my creations: it is made out of a multi-colored threads. The mulit-colored threads are silky and shine like jewelry when the light hits it just right. The variegated cotton thread gives it nice structure. This scarf is available for sale in artwork gallery.
